National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs. This spring it will be held on Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit the Drug Enforcement Administration website to locate collection sites near you.

Boone County Events

Boone County Spring Cleanup

Properly dispose of unwanted household items for free at the Boone County Spring Cleanup being held April 19 – April 22 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. There are two sites: Boone County Public Works Department on Maplewood Drive and the Union Pool off Old Union Road. Liquid waste, hazardous waste, paint, dirt and concrete will not be accepted. This event is for Boone County residents only.

Great American Cleanup in Boone County

Join Boone County for the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, April 29. This event will be held from 8:30 a.m. until noon in Rabbit Hash on Lower River Road. Refreshments, a hot boxed lunch and free t-shirt will be provided to all volunteers.

Great American Cleanup in Florence

Participate in the Great American Cleanup with the City of Florence on Saturday, April 29 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Volunteers can begin signing in and picking up their cleaning supplies at 8:15 a.m. at the Florence Public Maintenance Facility (7850 Tanners Lane – across from Goodwill). A continental breakfast and lunch will be served. Adults and children of all ages are welcome.

Campbell County Events

Campbell County Spring Cleanup

The Campbell County Spring Cleanup will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on March 31 and April 1. This free event is for Campbell County residents only (must present a valid government issued photo ID). Items that will be collected at the following locations include:

  • Pendery Park – trash only
  • Campbell County Police Station – trash only
  • Campbell County Transportation Department – appliances, car batteries, electronics (no TVs), furniture/mattresses, propane tanks (up to 20 lbs.), scrap metal, tires (rims are OK), trash
Liquids of any kind, including but not limited to paint, oil and antifreeze, will not be accepted at any location. If you plan to bring eight tires or more, please call the number listed below prior to the event.

Campbell County Shred Day

Campbell County will host a shred day on Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Disabled American Vets headquarters. This free event provides Campbell County residents the opportunity to have their personal documents shredded in a safe and secure manner. There is a five box limit per vehicle.

The Cold Spring Police Department will also be on site collecting prescription drugs to be properly disposed of as a part of the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. No liquids, vitamins, syringes or other medical equipment will be accepted.

Kenton County Events

Kenton County Spring Cleanup

Got junk? Here’s your chance to get rid of it for free! Properly dispose of your unwanted items at the Kenton County Spring Cleanup being held March 30 through April 1. Items will be accepted at the following times and locations:

  • Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Kenton County Public Works, Ryland City Building and Piner Elementary
  • Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Kenton County Public Works
  • Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Ryland City Building and Piner Elementary
