Rethink Household Hazardous Waste Fall Event

BOONE COUNTY EVENTS

2015 Great American Cleanup

Join the cities and communities of Boone County on Saturday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m. until noon, in celebrating and working the Great American Cleanup! The Great American Cleanup is a national effort coordinated by Keep America Beautiful and is centered on cleaning, beautifying and improving communities. The cities, businesses and residents of Boone County have come together to celebrate this event and encourage community pride every day of the year. Volunteers will help clean riverbanks and other areas in Boone County.

The cleanup sites for this event are located at the Rabbit Hash General Store, the City of Florence Public Services and the City of Walton City Hall.

Gloves, pick-up sticks and trash bags will be provided for the cleanup. Also, all volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a lunch celebration immediately following the event.

Boone County Spring Cleanup

Properly dispose of household items at the Boone County Spring Cleanup being held April 27 – May 3 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be two sites: one at the Boone County Public Works Department on Maplewood Drive and the other at the Union Pool off Old Union Road. Liquid waste, hazardous waste, paint, dirt and concrete will NOT be accepted. Nothing from a business will be accepted.

City of Florence Spring Cleanup

Properly dispose of household items at the City of Florence Spring Cleanup being held April 27 – May 3. Items will be collected from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For information on this event, contact the city at 859-647-5416.

CAMPBELL COUNTY EVENTS

Campbell County Spring Cleanup

The Campbell County Spring Cleanup will be held April 17 – 19. Items will be collected from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday at the following locations: Pendery Park, Campbell County Police Station and the Campbell County Transportation Department. Items that will be accepted are as follows: junk, general trash, large items (furniture), tires (rims are okay), 20-pound propane tanks, electronics, car/lawn batteries and scrap metal. Please note: Pendery Park and the Police Station will only accept general trash. Paint, oil, antifreeze or household batteries will not be accepted at any location.

Campbell County Shred Day

Campbell County Shred Day will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Disabled American Vets Headquarters. This event is free and provides Campbell County residents the opportunity to have their personal documents shredded in a safe and secure manner. Shredding personal documents can reduce your chances of becoming a victim of identity theft..

Limit: 5 boxes per vehicle.

Players for the Planet

Campbell County Solid Waste is proud to be a part of the region-wide recycling effort Players for the Planet on Sunday, May 17 at the Newport Pavilion from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This event is free to all citizens in the region; however, a donation of $10 per television/monitor is requested. Those who donate (any amount) will receive a pair of tickets for a specific 2015 Red’s baseball game.

KENTON COUNTY EVENTS

Kenton County Spring Cleanup

Got junk? Here’s your chance to get rid of it for free! Properly dispose of your unwanted appliances, trash and up to four vehicle tires (with $1 per tire recycling fee) at the Kenton County Spring Cleanup being held April 3 – 5. All items, except hazardous materials and paint, will be collected from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Lincoln Ridge Park, located at 420 Independence Station Rd. in Independence, Ky. Monthly events are held the first Saturday of every month at Kenton County Public Works.

2015 Great American Cleanup

Join the City of Covington on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. until noon, in celebrating and working the Great American Cleanup! The Great American Cleanup is a national effort coordinated by Keep America Beautiful and is centered on cleaning, beautifying and improving communities.
