BOONE COUNTY EVENTS

2014 Great American Clean-Up

Join the cities and communities of Boone County, on Saturday, April 26 from 8:30 a.m. until noon, in celebrating and working the Great American Cleanup! The Great American Cleanup is nationally coordinated by Keep America Beautiful and is centered on cleaning, beautifying and improving communities. The cities, businesses and communities of Boone County have come together to celebrate this event and encourage community pride everyday of the year. Volunteers will help clean riverbanks and other areas in Boone County.

The event clean-up sites are located at the Rabbit Hash General Store, the City of Florence and the City of Walton.

T-shirts, gloves and trash bags will be provided for the cleanup. Also, all volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a lunch celebration immediately following the event. Please call in advance if you plan to attend.

Boone County Spring Clean-Up

Properly dispose of household items at the Boone County Spring Clean-Up being held April 28 – May 4 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be two sites: one at the Boone County Public Works Department on Maplewood Dr. and the other at the Union Pool on Old Union Rd. Liquid waste, hazardous waste, paint, dirt and concrete will NOT be accepted. Nothing from a business will be accepted. City of Florence Spring Clean-Up Week

The City of Florence Spring Clean-Up Week will be held April 28 – May 4. Florence residents and business owners can bring items from their own spring cleaning to the Florence Public Services Maintenance Facility located at 7850 Tanners Lane (across from Goodwill) for disposal. The hours of operation for the event will be from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Proof of Florence residency will be required during the Spring Clean-Up Program. Any large item such as refrigerators, air conditioning units, household furniture, garbage, brush, or just general junk is acceptable. The Public Services Department will also accept refrigerators, air conditioning units or other items containing Freon (CFC's) throughout the year during regular business hours. City of Florence 2014 Great American Clean-Up

Join the City of Florence in the Great American Cleanup! This event will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 8:15 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Florence Public Services Maintenance Facility located at 7850 Tanners Lane (across from Goodwill). Each volunteer will receive an event t-shirt and cleaning supplies. Following a continental breakfast, volunteers will be transported to multiple locations throughout the city to pick up litter and will return to the facility at noon for a cookout.

City of Walton Spring Clean-Up

Properly dispose of household items at the City of Walton’s Spring Clean-Up. The spring clean-up week is April 28 – May 4 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Dumpsters will be located at 11 High School Court in Walton, KY. No liquids, appliances and tires will be accepted at this location. Call 859-485-4383 for more information about this event and items being collected.

Tire Waste Collection Clean-Up

From June 11 – June 14 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., tires can be taken to the Boone County Public Works Yard located at 5645 Idlewild Road in Burlington or to the Bavarian Landfill located at 12764 McCoys Fork Road in Walton. CAMPBELL COUNTY EVENTS

Campbell County Spring Clean-Up

The Campbell County Spring Clean-Up will be held April 11 – 13. Items will be collected from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday at the following locations: Pendery Park, Campbell County Police Station and the Campbell County Transportation Department. Please note that the Transportation Department will be the only location to accept scrap metal, appliances (including those with Freon), *tires, batteries, electronics (TV’s won’t be recycled) and propane tanks (valves removed). Pendery Park and the Police Station will only accept trash and general debris.

*Due to circumstances during prior clean-ups, Campbell County WILL NOT accept any tires larger than a tractor size. Commercial interests will be turned away on sight. Call ahead for more than six tires at 859-547-1802. On the weekend of the event call 859-663-8322.

Campbell County Shred Day

Any resident of Campbell County can come out to have their numerous documents shredded in mere seconds. The event will take place on April 19 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Disabled American Vets Headquarters (DAV) at 3752 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, KY. There are many reasons to shred your documents regularly; perhaps the largest reason is identity theft (one of the fastest rising crimes in America). Document destruction staff will be certified and drug tested for your safety and security. Furthermore, you can watch your documents enter the shredder with your own eyes. There is a four box limit – and we ask that you be mindful of others with smaller amounts that day. Please call with questions at 859-547-1802 or 859-663-8322 on the day of the event. Campbell County Tire Reclamation Event

The Campbell County Tire Reclamation Event will be held May 14 – 17. Tires will be collected from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day at the Campbell County Transportation Center located at 1175 Racetrack Road (near A.J. Jolly Park). This is a free opportunity to dispose of an unlimited amount of tires, however, please know commercial interests are prohibited. Items not accepted are as follows: large OTR, tracks, sheet rubber, solid, calcium or otherwise filled, or any tire with a bead greater than 1 ¾ inches. KENTON COUNTY EVENTS

Kenton County Spring Clean-Up

Got junk? Here’s your chance to get rid of it for free!

Bring, and other junk to Lincoln Ridge Park, located at 420 Independence Station Rd. in Independence, KY 41051.

Properly dispose of your unwanted appliances, trash, up to 4 vehicle tires (with $1 per tire recycling fee), etc. at the Kenton County Spring Clean-Up event being held April 4 – 6. All items, except hazardous materials and paint, will be collected from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Lincoln Ridge Park, located at 420 Independence Station Rd. in Independence, KY. Monthly clean-up events are held the first Saturday of every month and the Public Works location only.

Tire Waste Collection Event

From May 29 – 31 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. the Kenton County Fiscal Court will host a tire collection event. Tires can be taken to the Kentucky State Highway Facility located at 3923 Highway 17 in Covington. To learn more about Kenton County’s Waste Tire Program, please call at 859-392-1920.

Summer 2014 Events

River Sweep 2014

Join in and help us clean the Ohio River on Saturday, June 21 at Pendery Park located on Route 8 near Melbourne, KY. This event will begin at 10 a.m. Trash bags will be provided and gloves will be available for volunteers who need them.
