Fall 2019 Events

Household Waste Collection Event

When is the collection event and where will it take place?
This year’s Hazardous Waste Collection Event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will take place at the UC Health Stadium, “Home of the Florence Freedom” located at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, KY.

What can you drop off at the event?
We will only accept the following items at the event:
  • Aerosol cans
  • Antifreeze
  • Batteries (all types)
  • Corrosives/flammables (fuel, kerosene, etc.)
  • E-scraps (computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, cell phones, etc.)
  • Ink cartridges/toner
  • Light bulbs
  • Oil
  • Paint (10 can limit)
  • Paper (documents to be shredded)
  • Pesticides (2 gallon/2 lbs. only)
  • Propane tanks (20 lbs. only)
  • Televisions (limit of 2 per vehicle)
What is not accepted at the event?
We will NOT be accepting appliances, fertilizer, mercury containing devices, medications or tires. Visit the “Resource Guide” on this website for proper disposal methods of these items.

        *We also have the right to reject any item that you bring.

Is there a cost for dropping off your hazardous items?
The event is FREE to the residents of Boone, Campbell and Kenton Counties.

How do I drop off my items?
You load your car, drive to the event and we’ll do the rest! We do our best to keep traffic flowing so we ask that all attendees remain in their vehicles. We have volunteers who will unload your car for you and sort the items appropriately.

Please note - this event attracts a lot of people! While we work as fast as we can to get people through the line, please anticipate a wait. Thanks in advance for your patience and we appreciate you taking the time to properly dispose of hazardous waste.

Do I need to bring anything other than my items?
We ask that event attendees bring a completed copy of our registration form. The completed form will greatly help with the flow of traffic and will reduce your wait time.

Boone County Events

Boone County Fall Cleanup

Properly dispose of unwanted household items for free at the Boone County Fall Cleanup event being held October 16 – 19 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. There are two drop-off locations:
  • Boone County Public Works- 3275 Maplewood Dr., Burlington
  • Union Park- 10165 Old Union Rd., Union
Accepted items include yard waste, furniture, fencing, glass items, all metals, grills, appliances, plastic, paper, tires (limit 4 per vehicle), cardboard and junk.

Propane tanks, boats, liquids, hazardous waste, paint, dirt and concrete will not be accepted.

This event is for Boone County residents only and no businesses will be permitted to drop off waste.

Campbell County Events

Campbell County Fall Cleanup

The Campbell County Fall Cleanup will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. This free event is for Campbell County residents only. Must show proof of residency (example: driver’s license, utility bill), no businesses will be permitted to drop off items or waste. Participants are required to unload their own.

Items that will be collected at the following locations include:
  • Campbell County Police Department, 8774 Constable Drive, Alexandria – furniture/mattresses, trash/debris, yard waste
  • Frederick’s Landing, KY 9-AA Hwy, Wilder – furniture/mattresses, trash/debris, yard waste
  • Pendery Park, 4051 Mary Ingles Hwy., Melbourne – furniture/mattresses, trash/debris, yard waste
  • Campbell County Transportation Center, 1175 Racetrack Rd., Alexandria – appliances (Freon OK), batteries, electronics (limit 1 TV), furniture/mattresses, propane tanks (up to 20 lbs.), scrap metal, tires (limit 8; rims OK), trash/debris, yard waste
Paint, liquids, hazardous waste, fluorescent bulbs, and dirt/concrete/rocks will not be accepted at any location.

Furniture and mattresses do NOT need to be plastic-wrapped.

Campbell County Shred and Drug Take Back Day

9 On Your Side is partnering with Furniture Fair to host a Shred and Drug Take Back Day from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 7 at Furniture Fair located at 3710 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring.

Accepted items include all paper, rubber bands, paperclips, staples, notebooks, file folders, alligator clips, and blue prints.

Batteries, metal items, hard drives, computers, electronics, plastic bottles, glass of any kind, perishable items, food, or liquids will not be accepted.

Prescription pills and over-the-counter medications will also be accepted for proper disposal.

Liquids, ointments, needles, pens, gels and creams will not be accepted.

*All donations benefit Crime Stoppers.

Kenton County Events

Kenton County Fall Cleanup

The Kenton County Fall Cleanup event will be held October 3 – 5 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Kenton County Public Works building located at 420 Independence Station Rd. in Independence.

Accepted items include appliances (Freon accepted), household trash, yard waste, furniture, rechargeable and car batteries, TVs and electronics, 20lb propane tanks, scrap metal, oil and antifreeze, and other junk items. Oil & Gas must be removed from any type of equipment. Car tires are accepted, but after eight the fee will be $3.00 per tire. Please tarp and strap all loads to prevent litter.

Hazardous materials, liquid waste, fluorescent bulbs, shingles, concrete, junk vehicles (including boats) and any type of paint will not be accepted.

Please bring proof of residency (driver’s license with current address or your trash bill) as the cleanups are intended for private Kenton County residents only.

No businesses will be permitted to drop off waste, including side junk/construction debris removal businesses.

Please bring help to unload your vehicle as the locations are not always staffed to provide assistance.
