Fall 2017 Events

Household Waste Collection Event

When is the collection event and where will it take place?
This year’s Hazardous Waste Collection Event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will take place at the UC Health Stadium, “Home of the Florence Freedom” located at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, KY.

What can you drop off at the event?
We will only accept the following items at the event:
  • Aerosol cans
  • Antifreeze
  • Batteries (all types)
  • Corrosives/Flammables (fuel, kerosene, etc.)
  • E-scraps (computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, cell phones, etc.)
  • Ink cartridges/toner
  • Light bulbs
  • Oil
  • Paint (10 can limit)
  • Paper (documents to be shredded)
  • Pesticides (2 gallon/ 2 lbs. only)
  • Propane tanks (20 lbs. only)
  • Televisions (limit of 2 per vehicle)
We ask that attendees bring a completed copy of our registration form with them on the day of the event.

What is not accepted at the event?
We will NOT be accepting appliances, fertilizer, mercury containing devices, medications or tires. We also have the right to reject any item that you bring. Visit the “Resource Guide” on this website for proper disposal methods of these items.

Is there a cost for dropping off your hazardous items?
The event is FREE to the community.

How do I drop off my items?
You load your car, drive to the event and we’ll do the rest! We do our best to keep traffic flowing so we ask that all attendees remain in their vehicles. We have volunteers who will unload your car for you and sort the items appropriately.

Please note - this event attracts a lot of people! While we work as fast as we can to get people through the line, please anticipate a wait. Thanks in advance for your patience and we appreciate you taking the time to properly dispose of hazardous waste.

Do I need to bring anything other than my items?
To speed up the process, we ask that event attendees bring a completed copy of our registration form. Knowing what you have with you allows us to direct traffic and efficiently sort the items you are bringing.

Document Shred Event

Business and individuals are invited to safely dispose of documents that are too sensitive to throw in the trash or recycle bins. This free event takes place Saturday, Sept. 30 from 9 until 11 a.m. The Shred-It mobile unit will be located in the north parking lot of the Executive Building II at 1881 Dixie Hwy. in Ft. Wright. Boone County Fall Clean-Up

Properly dispose of household items at the Boone County Fall Clean-Up being held Oct. 18 – 21 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Items will be collected at the following locations:
  • Boone County Public Works Department - 3275 Maplewood Dr. in Burlington
  • Union Pool Old - 10165 Union Rd. in Union
Items accepted include yard waste, furniture, fencing, glass items, all metals, grills, appliances, plastic, paper, cardboard and junk. Liquid waste, hazardous waste, paint, dirt and concrete will NOT be accepted. No items from a business will be accepted. Only four tires per load will be accepted unless you call prior to the clean-up and register.

City of Florence Fall Clean-Up

The City of Florence Fall Clean-Up will be held Oct. 16 – 22 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Florence residents and business owners can drop items off at Florence Public Services Maintenance Facility on Tanners Lane. Please note: Proof of Florence residency will be required.

Any large item such as refrigerators, air conditioning units, TVs and CRT monitors, household furniture, garbage, brush, auto batteries or general junk will be accepted. The Public Services Department will also accept refrigerators, air conditioning units or other items containing freon (CFC's) throughout the year during regular business hours.

Campbell County Fall Clean-Up

The Campbell County Fall Clean-Up for all residents will be held on Oct. 20 and 21 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Items will be collected at the following locations:
  • Pendery Park – 4051 Mary Ingles Highway in Melbourne
  • Campbell County Police Station – 8774 Constable Drive in Alexandria
  • Campbell County Transportation Center – 1175 Racetrack Road in Alexandria
All locations will accept general trash, debris, furniture and mattresses. However, only the Transportation Center will accept scrap metal, car batteries, appliances, electronics (no TVs), tires and propane tanks (up to 20 lbs). Liquids of any kind and CRT monitors will NOT be accepted at any site.

Kenton County Fall Clean-Up

The Kenton County Fall Clean-Up event is being held Oct. 5, 6 and 7 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Kenton County Public Works on Independence Station Rd.

Items such as appliances, trash, tires and other junk will be accepted. Paint or hazardous material will NOT be accepted. Please note: The first four tires will be free; there will be a $3.00 disposal charge for each tire beyond that amount.
